Owain swung his leg up in haste, clambering up over the ledge. He lay on his back, exhausted, his breathing coming in great heaves. Lightning lit the sky, and thunder shook the hall, sending more of Jewana’s chamber plummeting below. The balcony rattled and swayed, and Owain knew it was only a matter of time before it too collapsed.

He rolled over onto his front and scrambled to his feet. The balcony swayed and creaked beneath his feet. He trod carefully towards the chamber’s entrance. Timber boards shifted and groaned under his weight. He kept his eyes down and his arms spread as he inched his way until he was close enough to leap through the threshold.

Chapter 7: Fury

Hell hath no fury...
