Owain’s head swam with fatigue. Jewana’s words didn’t sink in for several moments. The lids of his eyes felt like lead curtains. He forced them open, long enough to watch her crawl off him and hurry out onto the balcony.

Owain wanted to close his eyes and let sleep take him into oblivion. A warning sounded on the edge of his mind, distant but growing in clarity. As he drifted in and out of physical awareness, his dreamsight flowered but where it was elusive before, now it was pervasive, altering his perceptions of the world.
